Seafarer Project
Sally Beamish and Jila Peacock’s first music/image collaboration was The Seafarer, an Anglo-Saxon poem that inspired a muliti-media piano trio with voice and visual projections. This music became the basis for Beamish’s 2nd Viola Concerto, The Seafarer.
Her setting of the poems, Four Songs from Hafez, for Mark Padmore, tenor, and Roger Vingoles, piano, was first performed at the Leeds Lieder Festival on 12 October 2007. The Lion &the Deer, an oratorio for counter-tenor Michael Chance with choir, orchestra and children’s voices was premiered at St Thomos’ Cathedral Portsmouth on 11 November 2007.
